Introduction to the Amateur Branch
The most important goal in establishing any association is to provide grounds and facilities for that type of activities that could not essentially be done by individuals or groups solely. Holding national meetings, educational workshops, pubic information, establishing coordination among different groups and helping to improve activities levels of groups and individuals are among these activities.
Execution of above-mentioned activities and many similar activities is not possible for many individuals and groups, solely, or if it is possible, it can not continue. Among important case of activities of scientific association, organizing the activities of groups and providing conditions that would lead to develop and expansion of that science or discipline in a higher level. As an example Iranian Astronomy Association has come out of the heart of the activities of the Physics Society of Iran (PSI) and before that, astronomy was working in the PSI in form of a committee.
The amateur branch of the Astronomy Association, which has been established with the general goals of the improvement and promoting amateur astronomy has been successful to perform parts of the above-mentioned activities under direct support of the Association; however, since the association budget- a part of which is provided by receiving membership fees- is not even sufficient for the activities of the association itself to work in professional astronomy framework, in order to continue and expand its activities that would even include the “fresh” amateurs as well, the branch needs to raise funds from different sources. Payment of membership fee by the amateur members is critical in achieving this goal and other goals in framework of amateur astronomy. We hope we could inform the members of the series of the plans we can proceed in them by relying on the membership fees. We hope we would receive more supports of the amateur astronomers of our country and witness increasing growth in amateur astronomy in both quality and quantitative levels.
